Dr.-Ing. Alexander Willner is managing director at CISS TDI GmbH. He is working with his groups in contributing to a sustainable and digitized society since 2021. Simplified access to high-quality geoinformation is one of the most important building blocks for this goal, as around 80% of all data worldwide has a spatial reference.
The CISS TDI GmbH is a technology company that procures geodata for businesses and the public sector, processes them using its own tools and makes them available via platforms since 1982.
Before that, positions include the head of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) Center at the Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems (FOKUS) and the head of the IIoT research group within the chair of Next Generation Networks (AV) at the Technical University Berlin (TUB).
Prior research positions include the University Bonn, he holds an M.Sc. and a Ph.D. (Dr.-Ing.) in computer science from the University Göttingen and the Technical University Berlin respectively. His research interests are on distributed information systems, linked data, communication middleware and service-oriented architectures. He was active in relevant standardization activities and alliances and gave a corresponding lecture at the Technical University Berlin; and in the past at the Humboldt University of Berlin as well.
At various occasions Dr. Willner also acted as ambassador for the science capital Berlin and acted as advisory board member for various groups.
