abstract = {In the context of the digital transformation of the industry, whole value chains get connected across various application domains; as long as economic, ecologic, or social benefits arise to do so. Under the umbrella of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), traditional Operational Technology (OT) approaches are replaced or at least augmented by Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems to facilitate this development. To meet industrial requirements, for example, related to privacy, determinism, latency, or autonomy, established Cloud Computing mechanisms are being moved closer to data sources and actuators. Depending on the context, this distributed Cloud Computing paradigm is named Edge Computing or Fog Computing and various challenges have been subject to several publications. However, a proper reference model that describes the multi-dimensional problem space which is being spanned by this paradigm, seems still to be undefined. Such a model should provide orientation, put work in relation and support the identification of current and future research issues. This paper aims to fill this gap with a focus on industrial automation and follows analog models that have been developed for specific domains such as the Smart Grid Architecture Model (SGAM) and the Reference Architecture Model Industrie 4.0 (RAMI4.0). The proposed Reference Architecture Model Edge Computing (RAMEC) identifies 210 views on the Edge Computing paradigm in the manufacturing domain. Future iterations of this model might be used for the classification of relevant research, standardization, and development activities.},

abstract = {Edge Computing is a new distributed Cloud Computing paradigm in which computing and storage capabilities are pushed to the topological edge of a network. However, various standards and implementations are promoted by different initiatives. Lead by a reference architecture model for Edge Computing, current initiatives are analyzed by explorative content analysis. Providing two main contributions to the field, we present, first, how current initiatives are characterized, and second, a roadmap for sustainable Edge Computing relating three dimensions of sustainable development to four cross-concerns of Edge Computing. Findings show that most initiatives are internationally organized software development projects; important branches are currently telecom and industrial sectors; most addressed is the network virtualization layer. The roadmap reveals numerous chances and risks of Edge Computing related to sustainable development; such as the use of renewable energies, biases, new business models, increase and decrease of energy consumption, responsiveness, monitoring and traceability.},

abstract = {Several use cases from the areas of manufacturing and process industry, require highly accurate sensor data. As sensors always have some degree of uncertainty, methods are needed to increase their reliability. The common approach is to regularly calibrate the devices to enable traceability according to national standards and Syst\`eme international (SI) units - which follows costly processes. However, sensor networks can also be represented as Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) and a single sensor can have a digital representation (Digital Twin) to use its data further on. To propagate uncertainty in a reliable way in the network, we present a system architecture to communicate measurement uncertainties in sensor networks utilizing the concept of Asset Administration Shells alongside methods from the domain of Organic Computing. The presented approach contains methods for uncertainty propagation as well as concepts from the Machine Learning domain that combine the need for an accurate uncertainty estimation. The mathematical description of the metrological uncertainty of fused or propagated values can be seen as a first step towards the development of a harmonized approach for uncertainty in distributed CPSs in the context of Industrie 4.0. In this paper, we present basic use cases, conceptual ideas and an agenda of how to proceed further on.},

abstract = {Copyright {\textcopyright} 2019, arXiv, All rights reserved. Edge Computing is a new distributed Cloud Computing paradigm in which computing and storage capabilities are pushed to the topological edge of a network. The roadmap reveals numerous chances and risks of Edge Computing related to sustainable development; such as the use of renewable energies, biases, new business models, increase and decrease of energy consumption, responsiveness, monitoring and traceability.MSC Codes Computer systems organization$\sim$Cloud computing},

abstract = {“Data is the new oil”, this quote ascribed to Clive Humby most clearly describes the increasing impact of information on our society and economy. More and more data sets from various sources are published and used for different kinds of applications. Atmospheric reanalysis represents one of the richest and most valuable data sets for the open source community. However, transforming it into valuable information and linking it to other data sets is a challenge, especially for users from non-meteorological domains. In this presentation, we discuss the advantages of applying Linked (Open) Data principles to meteorological data in order to improve data acquisition for regional reanalysis (COSMO-REA2). By converting a COSMO-REA2 subset and linking it to further converted linked data, we illustrate how to gain much more knowledge using this approach. Different demonstrated scenarios, such as infrastructure planning for wind farming or transportation underline the advantage of this approach. Based on that, we argue that data in general and meteorological data in particular should be accessible by following the Linked Data paradigms.},

abstract = {The remarkable success of cloud computing has change the way services and applications are implemented and offered not least because of the flexibility and scalability that such an environment can offer. Cloud federation has tremendous potential for the industry as an effective way to increase the capacity of resources and diversity of offerings while keeping costs relatively low. Yet cloud federation is still in its infancy, with different approaches being introduced, either in terms of architectural design or the availability of test facilities. This paper introduces the FIWARE approach for federating multiple cloud-based infrastructures targeting different fields related to Future Internet and Smart-Cities innovative de- velopments. Sustainability is considered in the focus of our approach. In addition to the traditional cloud services, the FIWARE federation mainly offers a set of general-purpose platform functions and services extended with further facili- ties (e.g. sensing and Software-Defined-Networking (SDN) capabilities) advancing the market with smart infrastructures. These services are available through open (public and royalty- free), vendor-independent APIs supporting open innovation. We present federated infrastructure sustainability considera- tions along with the FIWARE federation architecture design that is implemented and deployed within a federation of 17 cloud-based infrastructures distributed across Europe.},

abstract = {Mobile Network Operators provide wireless communication services to their customers using their own network infrastructures. For providers, in particular in low-income countries, access to latest network functions to offer 4G/5G services can be a large burden as this is directly impacted by financial restrictions of operators. Although some network sharing solutions between operators to reduce the total cost of ownership exist in standards and literature, none address specific requirements of the operating environment of low income countries. In our approach, we are exploiting the raising interest in the cloudification of the related infrastructure, namely Network Function Virtualization (NFV) over Software Defined Networks (SDN), to allow each operator in these countries to offer specific network functions as a service in a federation in order to share them and to increase their revenue.Initial results are presented based on the development of a commercial toolkit (OpenSDNCore) and a federated testbed research project (TRESCIMO). As a result, we define the notion of a Mobile Federated Network Operator (MFNO) and provide an analysis of the underlying requirements for such a use case and potential approaches to address them.},

abstract = {The global trend of Future Internet related experimentally driven research has gained a strong momentum. In this context sustainability and the best use of developed infrastructures are highly critical. While many facilities have reached a level of maturity that allows them to be opened up to a wider use, mainly the academic sectors have been targeted. The Fanning out Testbeds-as-a-Service for the EIT ICT (FanTaaStic) project explores best practices, has performed a gap analysis, investigates applicable business models and works out a concept for the operation of a self-sustainable commercial testbed service offering. For defining the operational model, an analysis of available tools and frameworks from past and current Future Internet testbed projects is being carried out, based on a standard framework that defines the required processes and applications for the carrier grade operation of telecommunication infrastructures and provisioning of services. The business model is defined as a gradually growing service offering, based on categories of a framework for IT Service Management in federated e-infrastructures. The applicability of both, the developed business and operational model for such a sustainable federation will initially be implemented and evaluated in 2014.},

abstract = {The Internet is broken and there are several approaches to fix it. In order to validate the different attempts, they need to be evaluated within large-scale environments involving numerous heterogeneous resources. As a result, several testbeds have been established along with a number of competitive mechanisms to federate them. Since most of these protocols try to address similar issues, combining and unifying them is subject of current research. This leads to a complex environment for testbed owners and developers. Furthermore, it is foreseeable that even more federation approaches in different application domains will emerge in the future. Therefore, we propose an extensible architecture that allows to be federation protocol agnostic. The fundamental idea is to allow interoperability on the level of a semantic information model and to separate delivery mechanism specific implementations from a common core. The requirements for such an architecture have been extracted from latest European Future Internet research projects and its practicability is being evaluated by an initial implementation.},

However, most current systems do not support co-allocation of heterogeneous network resource provisioning systems and malleable advance reservations in multi-domain, multi-technology, and multi-vendor environments. Our approach, called Harmony, provides a functional service plane to unify the underlying network management systems and supports advanced reservation capabilities to utilize the available capacity and network resources in an efficient manner. @techreport{Mihai-Cristea:2007,
abstract = {This deliverable describes the result of the development of the AAA Authorisation infrastructure for multidomain
Optical Network Resources Provisioning (ONRP). The proposed architecture attempts to address key access
control problems when integrating heterogeneous Network Resource Provisioning Systems (NRPS) being
deployed in the different Phosphorus testbeds. The proposed architecture also targets to ensure future
compatibility with the Grid and NREN access control solutions and infrastructures.
This deliverable relies on the WP4 M4.1 milestone report that provides general and technical information about
available concepts, standards and technologies in network and application access control with the special
attention how these technologies can be used for on-demand network reservation and managing dynamic
    security services.
The report summarises recent research and developments of the Generic AAA Authorisation framework
(GAAA-AuthZ) to support Complex Resource Provisioning (CRP) and in particular focuses on the support of the
major Phosphorus use cases. The document provides an overview of the WP1 NSP AAA/AuthZ issues and
discusses how the GAAA-AuthZ can be implemented in the G.OUNI/G2MPLS (being developed in the WP2) to
    address GLIF UNI1.0 recommendations.
The report provides general design recommendations and suggestions to the GAAA-AuthZ for ONRP which are
used to compile an extensive list of detailed requirements to different components of the developed GAAA-
AuthZ infrastructure and its initial implementation in the framework of the GAAA Toolkit.
The proposed GAAA-AuthZ architecture identifies key functionalities to support multidomain ONRP and
introduces a number of mechanisms and solutions to support them. The proposed architecture allows smooth
integration with other AuthZ frameworks as currently used and developed by NREN and Grid communities.
The report provides detailed technical information about current development and implementation of the Token
Based Networking (TBN) and ForCES architecture which is being developed in cooperation between the
University of Amsterdam and the University of Patras as a part of the WP4 activity.
It is intended that this report will provide a technological and technical basis for adding AAA/AuthZ services to
ONRP technologies and components being developed by other Phosphorus packages. Proposed GAAA-AuthZ
solutions and current implementation in GAAA Toolkit can be used in basic network provisioning scenarios and
frameworks such as NRPS and Grid GMPLS.

abstract = {This chapter is about the AAA (Authentication, Authorization and Accounting) framework and its different protocols. The survey begins with the obsolete protocols TACACS and XTACACS, followed by the currently used TACACS+ and RADIUS and ends with the new protocol DIAMETER. To complete the picture COPS is also mentioned. The several protocols will be compared to each other with their advantages and disadvantages and a little introduction about the idea behind AAA will be given.},

abstract = {This document considers two different approaches dealing with secure location claims. The first protocol is called ECHO and handles with the secure verification of a location via ultra-sound. The second procedure increases the
robustness of location determination protocols like RADAR. Those are using standard IEEE 802.11 equipment. The document gives an introduction, overview, analysis and potential directions of both protocols. It focuses mainly on the security advantages or flaws},
